Six rooms, six characters

No two alike, on purpose

Each room is named for one of the house's past lives and furnished with things that have stories. All rates include breakfast cooked to order, parking, and as much of the honesty bar as your conscience allows.

    The Lookout

Top-floor double with a window seat over the moorings.

The one everyone asks for. Two flights up, worth every step: a deep window seat, a brass telescope that mostly points at fishing boats, and the best sunrise in the house. Bring a book, ignore it completely.

    Shipwright

Garden-facing king with a freestanding tub.

Named for the man who built half the boats in the harbour and, we suspect, some of our floorboards. Quiet, garden-facing, with a cast-iron tub you could weather a storm in and a bed you will not want to leave.

    The Nets

Snug double under the eaves, reading chair included.

Small on purpose. Tucked under the eaves where the net lofts used to be, with a wing-back chair, a shelf of borrowed paperbacks, and ceilings that ask taller guests to duck politely.

Family room for four with bunks and harbour light.

The family one. A proper double, handmade bunks with their own reading lamps, and a window that catches the harbour light all afternoon. Crabbing lines and buckets on loan from the hallway.

    Harbourmaster

First-floor suite with a sitting room and balcony.

The grandest room in a house that does not really do grand. A four-poster, a small sitting room, and a Juliet balcony over the terrace. Where anniversaries and very good decisions happen.
